Eight arrests, suspension of 13 stores and 549 fines for not using a mask, is the report of the 74,048 checks carried out by ELAS, on New Year’s Eve, for the implementation of measures to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. It is noted that 32,497 inspections were carried out, yesterday, Friday, December 31, at the Athens International Airport “Eleftherios Venizelos”.
Analytically, according to ELAS data, the results of the audits are as follows:
549 violations for not using a mask, etc. related infringements and fined 540 of 300 euros and 9 of 150 euros, as follows:
– 129 in Attica,
– 121 in Thessaloniki,
– 41 in the Ionian Islands,
– 39 in Epirus,
– 38 in the North Aegean,
– 29 in Western Greece,
– 29 in Central Macedonia,
– 28 in the South Aegean,
– 23 in the Peloponnese,
– 20 in Crete,
– 17 in Thessaly,
– 16 in Central Greece,
– 10 in Western Macedonia and
– 9 in Eastern Macedonia and Thrace.
88 violations and 8 arrests for rules of operation of shops, private services and other violations of the relevant legislation (prohibition of operation, non-use of a mask, percentage of square meter per person, etc.).
In the above cases, sanctions were imposed for violation of suspension of operation and related violations of the relevant provisions.

In Attica,
– Arrest and a 5,000 euro fine for a coffee owner, with the imposition of a 15-day suspension of operation, for exceeding the opening hours. Arrest of an employee of the store for violation of article 285 of the Penal Code. and a fine of 300 euros to 6 customers for not using a mask.
– Arrest and a fine of 5,000 euros to the owner, with the imposition of a 15-day suspension of operation, for exceeding the opening hours.
In West Macedonia, 2 violations of 300 euros, for not using a mask, by shop owners.
In Thessaloniki, 1 violation of 300 euros, for not using a mask, from a customer store.
In the Southern Aegean Sea,
– 5,000 euros fine in a store, with the imposition of a 15-day suspension of operation, for violation of opening hours.
– 11 violations of 300 euros, for not using a mask, by store employees. Additional 3 violations of 300 euros, for not using a mask, by vehicle passengers.
in Crete,
– 5,000 euros fine in a coffee bar, with a 15-day suspension for the use of music.
– 5 violations of 300 euros, for non-use of a mask, by employees of stores.
In the Ionian Islands, 2 violations of 300 euros, for not using a mask, by shop customers.
In Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, 11 violations of 300 euros, for not using a mask, by shop owner and customers.
In Central Greece, 2 violations of 300 euros, for not using a mask, by shop customers.
In West Greece,
– Arrest and a fine of 5,000 euros to a temporary store manager, with the imposition of a 15-day suspension for the use of music.
– Arrest and a fine of 5,000 euros for imposing a store, violation of the 15th day of operation, for exceeding the opening hours.
– 5 violations of 300 euros, for not using a mask, by shop customers.
in Peloponnese,
– Arrest and a fine of 10,000 euros for a store owner, with the imposition of a 30-day suspension of operation, for customer services without the necessary certificates and for not installing disinfectants, while 1 quote to the customer.
– 5,000 euros fine in a store, with the imposition of a 15-day suspension of operation, for customers customers without the necessary certificates and a fine of 300 euros to the customer.
– 2 violations of 300 euros, for not using a mask, from a customer store.
In Thessaly,
– From 5,000 euros fine to 2 temporary store managers, with the imposition of a 15th suspension on each, for customers without the necessary certificates.

– 5,000 euros fine in a cafe – bar, with the imposition of a 15-day suspension, for the use of music and standing customers.
– 8 violations of 300 euros, for not using a mask, by an employee and shop customers.
In addition, for private gatherings and other related infringements:
In Thessaloniki, an arrest and a 50,000 euro fine per person for organizing private borders on site.
Finally, 3 infringements were confirmed for non-completion of the electronic PLF forms (PassengerLocatorForm) by a traveler.
Club with 400 people in Burnazi on New Year’s Eve
A police raid was carried out in the early hours of the morning at a nightclub in Burnazi. where at least 400 people, literally on top of each other, had fun with music at the end despite the government’s strict recommendation to close the shops at 2 o’clock at the latest and ban the music.
In particular, more than ten patrols arrived at the scene at 2:30 am after the change of time in order to proceed with the control and to chase the people. The police were surprised to find that the store was operating normally and that there were hundreds of people inside.
When they tried to enter the nightclub, the people in charge allegedly closed their doors, but in the end they managed to enter and fine the customers who did not comply with the measures to restrict the spread of the coronavirus. As estimated, more than 400 people inside.
There was even tension between them and those present. In total, they fined 50 people, while the owner of the center was fined 5,000 euros and a “padlock” of 15 days.
