Ligue 1. Vanderson signs for Monaco
Grêmio Porto Alegre’s Brazilian right-back Vanderson, 20, has signed a five-year contract with Monaco, the Principality’s club announced on Saturday.
Born on June 21, 2001, Vanderson was trained at Grêmio where he arrived in 2018 and where he has, since his professional debut on December 27, 2020 against Atletico Goianense (2-1), played 52 games, some of them in Copa Libertadores.
Not qualified for the Coupe de France match
Brazilian U20 international, Vanderson “is a very dynamic and forward-looking defender, generous in his effort, able to bring his technical qualities in the opposing half of the field and to be decisive”, specified the Monegasque sporting director Paul Mitchell on the club’s website.
According to various sources familiar with the matter, the transfer of Vanderson, under contract with Monaco until June 2027, is close to 12 million euros. The player will not be qualified for the trip from Monaco to Rouen on Sunday, to face Quevilly-Rouen in the round of 16 of the Coupe de France.
