On 2021, there were 196,223 active cases of covid-19 in Portugal, a maximum since the beginning of the pandemic and 17,511 more than in the exhibition, indicates the DGS bulletin released this Saturday.
Crossing these data with the resident population, calculated in the 2021 Census, it is concluded that 1.9% of the population is currently infected. Or, to put it another way, one in every 53 Portuguese is currently with covid-19.
The data by municipalities released by the DGS on Friday, in turn, reveals that on December 29 there were nine municipalities whose incidence in the last 14 days exceeded 2%.
This lot includes some of the most populous municipalities in the country, such as Lisbon, Porto, Amadora, Almada and Oeiras.
One in 40 Lisbon residents infected
In the municipality of Lisbon, the most populous in the country, 2.51% of residents were infected in the last two weeks, that is, one in every 40 Lisboners tested positive during this period.
Also in Porto, the value exceeds 2%, with an infection rate of 2.13%, which means that one in every 47 residents of Invicta were infected between 16 and 29 December.
Almada, Amadora and Oeiras have accumulated to 14 days, in percentage terms of the population, of 2% in the first two municipalities and 2.22% in Oeiras.
But the Madeiran municipality of Porto Santo has, by a large margin, a higher rate of infractions: 4.75%, which means that one in every 21 residents tested positive for 14 days.
The remaining municipalities above the 2% influence rate are Câmara de Lobos (2.12%), Campo Maior (2.07%) and Ferreira do Zêzere (2.3%).
