Calais: four people, including three migrants, injured in a fight
A Calaisian was injured Friday evening in a fight with Eritrean migrants and then three of these migrants injured by his brother who rushed over them by car, we learned Saturday from the prefecture and the prosecution. The vital prognosis of one of the migrants, who was run over by a car, is engaged, the deputy prosecutor of Boulogne-sur-Mer, Patrick Leleu, told AFP. This young man was transferred to the CHRU in Lille.
The facts take place on the evening of December 31 in the Calais district of Beau-Marais, “against a backdrop of significant alcoholism for both parties”, migrants and inhabitant of the district, said on Saturday morning the secretary general of the prefecture of Pas – de-Calais, Alain Castanier. Migrants “bothered” a young woman and a resident of the neighborhood wanted to defend her, explained Saturday evening the deputy prosecutor of Boulogne-sur-Mer, Patrick Leleu.
A “brawl” ensued. Finding himself “outnumbered”, the Calaisian tried to flee but was caught by the migrants and hit “a priori by means of a chain”. His brother then took his vehicle and rushed towards the group, hitting two migrants, whom he injured in the legs, and rolling on the third, whose vital prognosis is engaged. “He said he wanted to defend his brother who was being killed, but for us, for the moment, we are not in a situation of self-defense,” explained Patrick Leleu.
Several people in police custody
The resident of the neighborhood and the three injured migrants were named to the hospital. Injured in the face, the Calaisien was to leave the hospital on Saturday evening, according to the prosecutor. One of the migrants with injured legs had already left earlier in the day and was taken into police custody. There he joined the driver of the car and a migrant who was not injured.
One of the migrants in police custody is considered “the main perpetrator of the violence, but there may be others,” said Patrick Leleu. The custody of these three young men was extended on Saturday. They must be presented to a judge on Sunday as part of a judicial investigation for attempted murder, he added.
