The modem deputy and former municipal councilor of Saint-Germain-au-Mont-d’Or received, like many other elected officials, a threatening personal email, which she attributes to people opposed to the vaccine pass. She filed a complaint this Friday, December 31.
The messages of threats from the government received by the deputies of the National Assembly have multiplied in recent months, in parallel with the measures taken by the to ensure the health security of the French. In July 2021, the LREM deputy for the 1st district of the Rhône, Thomas Rudigoz had thus received death threats after having triggered a speech by Emmanuel Macron, which notably addressed the issue of vaccination against Covid-19.

In this last week of the year 2021, while parliamentarians must in particular on the transformation of the health pass into a vaccination pass, the deputy of the Rhône Blandine Brocard (Modem) received a less threatening email: “We arrive – You’re on the list, we have guns, we arrive the collaborator, you will not get away like this“.
Contradiction, debate, disagreements, heated exchanges: YES.
But what would a regime be where the representatives of the people legislate under pressure and threats?

“Dramatic for our democracy”
Contacted by Lyon Capital, the representative of the 5th district confides having “made a complaint earlier [ce vendredi 31 décembre, NDLR] at the gendarmerie. Not for me personally because I have no particular fear, but on the other hand I find it really dramatic for our democracy. If the representatives of the people begin to legislate under constraint and threat, there is no longer a democracy at all“, she laments. According to her, a fiftieth anniversary of deputies is said in this loop of mail that she received, before denouncing her on Twitter. Inside it is, in addition to the message transcribed above, “the address of our personal home and our landline numbers “, specifies the chosen one.
If the words “vaccine pass” are not sent in this threatening email, for the former municipal councilor of Saint-Germain-au-Mont-d’Or there is no doubt that it comes from people who are there “fiercely opposed “, in particular because of the use of the term “collaboration“.
The security of elected officials reinforced in November
“I say a thousand times yes to the democratic debate, especially on subjects like that, which I understand may crunch a certain number of our fellow citizens. But we don’t translate that into threats, we mustn’t let it go “, declares the elected 40-year-old. A little earlier in the week, the deputy of Oise Pascal Blois (LREM) had discovered his burnt car in his garage and anti-vaccine pass tags on his home.
These new threats may then, in November the Minister of the Interior, Gerald Darmanin, had asked the prefects of France to increase surveillance around the offices of elected officials and, if, their homes. “No intimidation, and a fortiori no violence, against elected officials is tolerable“, he added in a telegram to which AFP had been able to access.
