Haute-Garonne firefighters responded to two fires overnight from Thursday to Friday, in Lauragais, south of Toulouse. Several people were hospitalized, including two firefighters, burned during the intervention.
The Haute-Garonne firefighters had a lot to do on the night of Thursday 30 to Friday 31 December. They are concentrated for two fires in the Lauragais, south of Toulouse.
First around 3:30 am in Belbèze-de-Lauragais. A house caught fire. A 67 year old man one summer hospitalized in absolute emergency and a 73-year-old woman in relative emergency. Then, around 4 a.m., a fire broke out in a residence in Montgiscard. Two apartments were totally destroyed, eight others lost.
Thirteen people hospitalized, including three firefighters
Thirteen people were hospitalized in relative urgency, mainly after being poisoned by smoke, including three firefighters. Among the firefighters, two were burned to the legs, apparently because of a floor that collapsed under the flames.
The firefighters, who were around 40 at the height of the fire, were still there at 9 a.m. The fire was under control but not extinguished at this time.
