dismissed from office, Kovac said goodbye to his players
Removed from his duties as coach of AS Monaco, Nico Kovac trained his players during a last training session at the Louis-II stadium. The Croatian has been fatalistic, while his club has still not formalized the news.
No official communication from AS Monaco, but, as explained this evening in the RMC Football Show, Niko Kovac said goodbye to his now ex-players this Friday afternoon, during a session of training at the Stade Louis-II initially planned earlier and at La Turbie.
“That’s how it is, it’s football”
The Croatian coach appeared very disappointed. “It’s like that, it’s football” he said, fatalist, to his men whom he thanked and which he continues to follow, according to his speech before the training session led by Stéphane Nado, the coach of the N2. Thursday evening, RMC Sport learned that the Monegasque club had decided to separate from its coach, a decision that had been in the pipeline for several weeks.
Clement should replace him
On the other hand, Niko Kovac did not meet either Paul Mitchell or Oleg Petrov this Friday. The leaders also spoke to the players at the end of the session, explaining the reasons for the departure of the former technician from Bayern Munich. They returned to the non-qualification in the Champions League (beaten in the barrage by Shakhtar) and the current position of AS Monaco (not once in the Top 5 since the start of the season). If they explained that “as long as the objectives are not reached, there will be change”, they have not confirmed anything about the successor of Kovac who, except surprise, should be Philippe Clement, the current coach of the Club Bruges.
