Omron, a Japanese robotics giant which employs more than 30,000 people and a centenary in France, decided in 2017 to open seven new innovation laboratories in Europe, including that of Argonay, near Annecy, in Haute-Savoie. Specialized in mobile robots, the latter now employs around twenty experts who have developed robotic solutions (mobile robot with top conveyor, collaborative palletizing robot, etc.) unveiled for the first time on the 600 m2 of spaces of Roadshow demonstration and conference.
For two days, on December 14 and 15, 2021, at the Automation Center “autonomous mobile robots” in Annecy (ATC), a group of selected manufacturers from the automotive, food and pharmaceutical industries, was able to attend a presentation to reimburse and reconfigure their production lines.
“For us, it was a question of going out to meet industrialists,” explains Stéphane Chômienne, France director of Omron.
A whole range of practical solutions for the factory of the future has been demonstrated, with advanced human-machine collaborative solutions, which are generally not visible outside a factory, due to their large size. : “The Roadshow offers visitors a unique experience of large-scale human-machine industrial automation solutions to address some key challenges that enable manufacturers, such as palletizing, transportation and traceability. »Explains the manufacturer.
A tour of Europe for six months
He thus put forward a very powerful fully autonomous mobile robot (the HD-1500) for heavy loads of up to 1,500 kg. In addition, flexible solutions for palletizing and autonomous material transport were on display. Systems for transferring boxes and pallets from a “Top Conveyor” to a mobile robot were also shown. In short, a whole range for palletizing and depalletizing applications.
This in an industrial vision to promote “a more agile and flexible manufacturing with less manual labor, reduced energy consumption and a better overall rate of return”, explains Omron.
“In Annecy, we invested in a 200 m2 model to reach out to our user markets,” explains the director of Omron France. Embarked on trucks, the latter will continue the “Flexible Manufacturing” Roadshow in Europe during the first six months of 2022. First in Spain, then in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Italy, Scandinavia, Germany, Portugal and, finally, in the Benelux region.
