10 tips for family excursions in Hanover
The time between the years and the first few days of the New Year is perfect for spending time with family. Excursion destinations that the whole family will enjoy are particularly suitable. The Christmas garden at Hanover Zoo
Spectacular light shows, music, enchanted paths and a fabulous flora. The Christmas Garden has already enchanted millions of people in Berlin, Stuttgart, Dresden and Madrid – and is now in Hanover. The zoo will open its doors to visitors every day between 5 p.m. and 10 p.m. until January 9, 2022 – with the exception of New Year’s Eve, when the Christmas Garden will be closed. Tickets can be purchased in advance. Since this is an open-air event, the 2G rule applies – access only for vaccinated and convalescent people. A family ticket is available for 47 euros.
Indoor climbing in Hanover’s bouldering halls
Anyone who has had enough of the sensual days and would rather try a new hobby is in the right place in a bouldering hall. The climbing professionals of the Beta bouldering hall on Weidendamm also offer family bouldering time with two-for-one supervision on weekends and public holidays between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. It is open from Monday to Friday between 10 a.m. and 11 p.m. and on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. The 2G rule also applies here. The regular admission price is 12.50 euros. For children under 14 years of age, climbing fun is available from € 8.50.
Hikes and sledding in the Harz Mountains
While a white Christmas is a rarity in Hanover, the Harz is transformed into a winter wonderland almost every year. The snow-covered mountain landscape often attracts skiers, but there are also numerous hiking trails in the Harz that invite you to take a relaxing hike away from the hustle and bustle of winter sports. Families with hiking experience can e.g. B. climb the Brocken on the eight-kilometer Goetheweg from the Torfhaus. If this route is too long for you, you can alternatively go for a walk on the 2.5 km long fairytale trail to Armeleuteberg in Wernigerode.
The winter fairy tale in Marienburg Castle
If you haven’t had enough of Christmas markets, you can still stroll through a fairytale backdrop decorated for Christmas even after the holidays. Because at Marienburg Castle near Pattensen Christmas dreams will come true from January 2nd to 9th from 11 a.m. Although Marienburg Castle is worth a visit at any time of the year, it becomes particularly magical when the old walls shine in the Christmas lights. Tickets for adults are available for 12.50 euros and children’s tickets for 9.50 euros. Admission is free for children under 5 years of age. Here, too, admission is only for vaccinated and convalescent people.
Indoor mini golf at Neon Golf Hannover
Mini golfers who want to take a lap around the course in winter or are looking for an extraordinary golf experience can get their money’s worth at Neon Golf Hannover on Heiligerstraße 15-16. The mini golf course is open on holidays and public holidays between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m. / midnight. Golf fun in the dark is available from 12.70 euros for vaccinated and recovered adults and from 10.70 euros for schoolchildren.
Playful time travel into the past
History is fun – when it is told well. And that is exactly what special exhibitions are currently doing in the State Museum and in the Ernst-August-Galerie in the city center. Knights, kings, princesses and castles are all about knights, kings, princesses and castles in the state museum, where seven personalities offer a playful insight into the past. This special history lesson can be experienced between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. A family ticket is already available for 20 euros. Just as playfully, “Miniature Worlds of History with Playmobil” in the basement of Ernst-August-Gerie introduces the little ones to the brief epochs of the past. There children pay 5 euros and adults 8 euros for a ticket. With the exception of public holidays and Sundays, this exhibition can be visited every day between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. The 2G rule also applies here.
Animal family fun in the bison enclosure Springe
Fresh air, nature and cute four-legged friends. You can find the bison enclosure in Springe every day between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Vaccinated and convalescent people can end the holidays here with an exciting winter walk. The animal pleasure costs 10.50 euros for adults and 6.50 euros for children between the ages of three and 17 – entry only for those who have been vaccinated and those who have recovered.
Pheno Wolfsburg
The Wolfsburg Adventure Museum has come up with something very special for the holidays. Whether it’s a chocolate workshop, wood workshop or science shows – the program for the “Christmas season in the Phaeno” is as varied and entertaining as it is instructive. The Phaeno opens its doors every day between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. for those who have been vaccinated and those who have recovered. Tickets cost 14 euros for adults and 9 euros for children and young people up to 17 years of age.
The play paradise in the Mellendorf Adventure Land
From bouncy castles and giant slides to bobby cars and electric cars to a huge climbing tower, the indoor play park in Mellendorf has everything on offer that a child’s heart desires. With the exception of New Year’s Day, the Adventure Land is also open every day between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. during the holiday season. Day entry costs 9.50 euros for children from one year of age and 4 euros for accompanying adults. The 2G plus rule applies – access only for vaccinated persons or genesis with a negative, daily updated Covid test.
