You will have to wear a mask outside, from this Thursday, December 30, if you go to the city centers of Avignon, Apt, Orange and twelve other municipalities of Vaucluse. The prefecture has taken new measures to curb the Covid-19 epidemic. It also restricts festive events for New Year’s Eve.
Facing the Omicron wave, wearing a mask is once again compulsory outdoors in the town centers of Apt, Carpentras, Le Pontet, Pernes-les-Fontaines, Vaison-la-Romaine, Avignon; Cavaillon, Monteux, Pertuis, Valréas, Bollène, Isle-sur-la Sorgue, Orange, Sorgues and Vedène.
In short, in all the towns of the Vaucluse with more than 9,000 inhabitants. “The perimeters, defined in consultation with the mayors of the municipalities concerned, cut across town centers and high-traffic areas. They can be viewed on the website of the prefecture and on the websites of town halls”, said the Prefecture in a press release.
Monday, December 27, during his announcements, Prime Minister Jean Castex announced that he would return to the Prefects, in consultation with the mayors, to decide on a possible return of the mask outdoors in city centers.
Other measures have been taken to limit festive gatherings, especially for New Year’s celebrations.
“Considering the uninhibiting nature of alcohol consumption, and in particular with regard to compliance with the barrier gestures necessary to limit viral spread, alcohol consumption on public roads is prohibited in all the municipalities of the department until until January 19 inclusive. This prohibition does not apply as soon as the area concerned is blocked off and subject to the health pass “, writes the Prefecture.
For the night of December 31 to January 1, the Prefecture also announces the early closure of bars, restaurants and drinking establishments at 1:30 am.
Dancing evenings and “dance activities” organized indoors and outdoors are prohibited in establishments open to the public from December 31 to January 1, 2022.
Large gatherings of people and dance evenings organized in public spaces are also prohibited from December 31 to January 1.
The other measures adopted are more traditional in the context of New Years Eve celebrations.
From December 30 to January 2, the Prefect of Vaucluse takes several prohibition measures:
- The retail sale of fuel in any transportable container is prohibited on the territory of all the municipalities of the department of Vaucluse.
- The managers of service stations, in particular those with automated gasoline dispensing devices or pumps, must ensure that this requirement is complied with;
- The transport of fuel in any receptacle, such as jerry cans or jerry cans, is prohibited;
- The sale and transport of firecrackers and fireworks and their use in public places are prohibited; • the sale and transport of acid as well as alcohols and all flammable or chemical products are prohibited;
- Electronic music festivals and gatherings (free parties, rave parties) are prohibited in Vaucluse territory from December 30, 2021 to January 3, 2022
