Thessaloniki: Green light for the “New East Ring Road”
Today, Thursday 30 December 2021, the binding bids were submitted for the first two projects of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, carried out through PPPs: the highway “New Eastern Ring Road” (FlyOver), budget 373 million euros, in Thessaloniki and the road Axos “Kalamata – Rizomylos – Pylos – Methoni”, budget 251 million euros, in the Peloponnese.
In the PPP tender for the “New Eastern Peripheral Road of Thessaloniki” (FlyOver), which concerns the construction of an Elevated Expressway (YTL, the so-called Flyover), approximately 13.5 km long, four of them on a continuous bridge, with four lanes. , two plus emergency lanes (LEAs), per direction, were submitted by the following economic operators:
- INTRAKAT SOCIETE ANONYME TECHNICAL AND ENERGY WORKS
- AVAX PERSONS UNION SA – MYTILINEOS SA
- AKTOR CONCESSIONS SA
- GEK TERNA SOCIETE ANONYME HOLDINGS OF REAL ESTATE
The project has a temporary contractor at the beginning of the year and its construction will begin in 2022.
In the PPP tender for “Kalamata – Rizomylos – Pylos – Methoni”, which includes the improvement and upgrading of about 20 km of existing roads, the construction of a new highway in a length of about 30 km, the adaptation and improvement of 14 of each road network, the construction of a new side road network 41.4 km, the construction of 12 bridges and many accompanying technical works (level junctions, hydraulic works, retaining walls, etc.), the respective schemes submitted binding offers:
- AVAX PERSONS UNION SA – MYTILINEOS SA
- ASSOCIATION OF PERSONS AKTOR CONCESSIONS SA – INTRACAT
The project has a temporary contractor at the beginning of the year and its construction will begin in 2022.
