Plans in motion for 1.8 GW wind farm Offshore Sweden
The Swedish developer OX2 has applied for a Natura 2000 permit for the 1.8 GW offshore wind farm Triton located within the Swedish economic zone off the coast of Skåne.
The wind farm is located about 30 kilometers south of Ystad and will include between 68 and 129 wind turbines with a maximum height of 370 meters.
The application is being processed and will be decided by the County Administrative Board of Skåne County. This applies to a Natura 2000 permit and includes an environmental impact assessment (EIA), says OX2.
If built to full capacity, Triton’s offshore wind farm would produce 7.5 TWh of electricity per year, enough to meet the needs of about 1.5 million households, OX2 said.
This is the company’s third application to be submitted for an offshore wind power project in just over a month.
OX2 submitted a permit application and a Natura 2000 application for Galatea-Galene offshore wind farm. The project would include 101 turbines and is divided into two areas: Galatea, which is located about 25 kilometers from Falkenberg, and Galene, which is located about 25 kilometers off the coast of Varberg.
OX2 has also recently signed a memorandum of understanding with the Bank of Finland’s Bank of Finland Fund Company for the development of Noatun offshore wind power project south of Åland.
The two parties aim to establish a jointly owned company where OX2 is the client and Ålandsbanken Fondbolag a long-term partner until the project is completed.
The Noatun project is at an early stage and is expected to consist of approximately 250 wind turbines that will provide 20 TWh of electricity per year.
