GlobalFoundries employees donate $ 30,000 to charity
MALTA – Employees at GlobalFoundries’ Fab 8 computer chip factory in Saratoga County donated $ 30,000 to two local charities as part of the company’s GlobalGives Holiday Gift Campaign.
The two nonprofits are the Northeast Regional Food Bank of New York and Saratoga Bridges, which serves adults and children with developmental disabilities. Fab 8 employs 3,000 people and is in the process of planning to build a second factory, Fab 8.2.
The GlobalGives campaign is aimed at funding programs that run a “positive social impact” both locally and globally where GlobalFoundries has operations and 15,000 employees.
“These organizations care so much about our community, especially at times like this,” GlobalFoundries staff said in Fab 8 in a joint statement. “We know that during these challenging times their mission is more important than ever as they work to help those in need. We hope this donation will help alleviate the cost of meeting some of the needs. the needs of our community during this holiday season. “
GlobalFoundries also has two affiliated foundations that support the cities of Malta and Stillwater where its operations are located which have donated millions of dollars in donations to local charities.
Earlier this month, Fab 8 employees also donated 2,809 toys to the US Marine Corps-led Toys for Tots program, including 48 bicycles.
