Trips to Berlin and Copenhagen have been replaced by short-distance coffee brewing on primus
The Christmas talk
But there was one thing in particular that gave Synnøve a boost in the pandemic year 2021.
KOM24 has asked six questions to a number of people in the communications industry over the past year and what they are doing this Christmas.
Today it is adviser Synnøve Vindheim Svardal in TRY Advice that answers in the Christmas talk.
– What do you do at Christmas?
– It both different and is exactly the same every year. This year it will be Christmas with in-laws in Molde – just a bumpy trip with Widerøe away. That means a lot of really good food, predictable (and cracking good) baking, family time and consuming a lot of Christmas content on linear TV.
– What would you recommend others to listen to / make / read / watch or hear this Christmas?
So far in December, NRK’s podcast «Christmas mood», with Live and Ronny, is a favorite. Mostly because the two together are a perfect balance of Christmas cheer and Christmas sobriety that makes me lift every day to and from work. Otherwise, I would recommend watching «Beforeigners», which these days is current with season 2. The series is a magnificent match, a fun language experiment, a commentary on the refugee crisis and a crime at once. Long live!
– What’s the funniest thing you’ve experienced this year?
– So we are talking about the pandemic year 2021 where trips to Berlin and Copenhagen have been replaced with short-distance coffee brewing on primus. But I started working in TRY, which has been this year’s big upturn. I have become acquainted with an amazing environment with some tremendously skilled professionals. What a drive! Can’t wait to continue and build on the TRY house in Bergen.

– You get to invite three industry colleagues to dinner. Who are you inviting and why?
– Now I may have chosen a little outside the scope, but I would like to take these three to dinner.
Jens Kjeldsen, professor of rhetoric at UiB – This is a professional that I look up to and listen to with interest. He is a very good example of someone who manages to explain clearly and simply why the subject of communication is important and really how to use communication as a strategic tool.
Sofie Høgestøl – Associate Professor at UiO. She is so knowledgeable, engaging and exciting to listen to – a communicator who is in a class to say I want to say.
Silje Skjelsvik – climate strategist and founder of «Om i morgen» and «Problemo». It is very inspiring with the energy that accompanies young, good entrepreneurs. It’s admirable what she’s achieved and I’m sure we can all learn a lot from what she can, from what she does and how she does it.
– What do you remember best from the communication year 2021?
– It may be the debate and confusion that followed Vedum’s restrictions on certain communication services. We must constantly defend our own professional field and credibility – maybe it’s time to talk more about what we do and what drives us as professionals and industry?
– What do you think will affect the communications industry in 2022?
– I believe that the requirements to really show that branded goods are common, sustainable and socially relevant will increase in 2022. Those who manage to be current and on the ball, show what business means to people, what they want to change and how to contribute to it , will appear more credible and attractive to customers and potential employees. Then we need a broader understanding of society, understanding of technology, more knowledge of change and knowledge about sustainability.
