Temperatures well above seasonal averages in Normandy and records for December 29
It is hot air from the Azores which raises the thermometer on December 29 in Normandy. Records were therefore broken for this day in Normandy with more than 15C ° in Caen and Saint-Hilaire-du-Harcouët, and 14.7C ° in Alençon: it has never been so hot on December 29 since the readings existing indicates Météo France.
Over the month of December, the records hold, but we are only one or two degrees below depending on the area. In Caen for example, the highest temperature for a month of December dates from December 19, 1989 with 17.2C °. These temperatures are nevertheless exceptional. For 70 years, the thermometer has gone above 15C ° only 12 times, mainly over three particularly hot years: 1953, 1989 and 2015.
Started on December 27, this winter heat episode should last until January 2 with temperatures above 12C °. Temperatures are expected to drop again for the new year.
