Monaco: Niko Kovac in the hot seat?
Niko Kovac is under contract with AS Monaco until June 2023. But the Croatian coach could see his career in the Principality stop sooner than expected, according to the revelations of The team in its edition of this Wednesday, December 29.
Club vice-president Vladimir Petrov put the pressure on Niko Kovac after an analysis of the first part of the season: “The results are rather positive in Europe. Regarding the Championship, we were hoping for better than this 6th place but the year 2021, as a whole, was positive with this podium in May. Our first part of the season may not be perfect, but there is time to react. We were aiming for the podium at the end of the season ”.
Not to miss
At the end of the first leg of Ligue 1 2021-2022, Monaco occupies sixth place in the standings with four points behind on the podium. According to The team, this classification and the style of play of the ASM does not suit Dimitri Rybolovlev, the owner of the club.
Kovac is also accused of negative results against the big teams in Ligue 1: ASM indeed lost against PSG, Lyon, Lens and OM during the first part of the championship and shared the points with Nice and Lille.
In addition, the good course of the ASM in the Europa League (the club is qualified for the knockout stages) does not manage to forget the early elimination during the play-offs of the Champions League (against Chakthior Donetsk) and the not qualifying for the lucrative group stage.
Finally, The team reveals that Niko Kovac would be cold with part of his locker room which weakens him in the eyes of his leaders.
It remains to be seen whether Niko Kovac will manage to restore his credit with his leaders in order to stay until the end of the season and achieve the objectives set.
