Prague – Czech-Austrian relations, the situation in the EU or migration will be topics that will be discussed today in Prague by Foreign Minister Jan Lipavský (Pirates) with his Austrian counterpart, the People’s Party Alexander Schallenberg. The recent Austrian Prime Minister will be the first foreign partner Lipavský will meet after taking office.
According to the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the heads of diplomacy are to evaluate regional cooperation in Central Europe and discuss current EU topics, including migration and the upcoming conference on the future of the EU. They also discussed the preparations for the Czech Presidency of the Council of the EU next year and the situation in Ukraine in Russia and Belarus.
Longtime diplomat Schallenberg led the Austrian government from October to early December this year in place of Sebastian Kurz, who resigned on suspicion of corruption and bribery. The current Prime Minister of Austria is Karl Nehammer, the former Minister of the Interior.
