PRAGUE

HolKa will start construction in January. The construction of the footbridge will take over a year

Sugar Mizzy December 29, 2021

On the Holešovice side, the footbridge will be entered from the embankment at the gate level to the Prague Market Square, and in Karlín on the Rohan Island. The minimalist building, under which the architects Petr Tej and Marek Blank are signed, thus, among other things, significantly simplifies the accessibility of the island of Štvanice and will become another route that people traveling between Karlín and Holešovice will be able to use.

Currently, the journey between the two city districts can be shortened only by using the ferry of the same name, which connects both banks since 2015. However, it is in operation only in daylight from April to October.

Representatives of the Capital City of Prague and private investor CA Immo, who owns ownership of the land on the Karlín side within the River City Prague complex, have already agreed not only on the property conditions for the location of the footbridge, but also in cooperation during construction.

Developer Central Group has bought the land for 2.5 billion and is preparing for further expansion

“Mutual agreement with private investors and a common interest in this location is the basis for a successful transformation of the territory. And this does not only apply to the footbridge between Holešovice and Karlín, but absolutely everywhere, ”said Deputy Mayor Adam Scheinherr (Prague himself).

The journey will also speed up for the people of Žižkov. Due to its location, the footbridge connects to the Žižkov tunnel leading to Thámova street. “It’s also great that we also get a new barrier-free access to the island of Štvanice, which is waiting for a complete transformation,” added Scheinherr.

CA Immo plans to connect to this current crossroads of walking and cycling routes both in the direction of Karlín, where a park with public greenery will be created, and the revitalization of the river bank as part of the Karlínská náplavka project.

“We are glad that the city has decided that the HolKa footbridge project is enough and that we can follow it on the Karlín side by improving the river bank and the community park. In the future, these public spaces will not only allow further pedestrian connections in the direction of Karlínské náměstí, but will also remain the venue for many cultural, sports and gastronomic events, “said Václav Jonáš, CA Immo’s director in the Czech Republic, which completed construction on Rohan Island in summer 2021. two office buildings.

Vivus Kolbenova offers apartments and retail space.

The ČKD: Rachot strojíren complex is now being replaced by flats, parks and shops

“With Mississippi House and Missouri Park, the River City Prague office campus has gained its final face. Our long-term vision for the transformation of the originally forgotten brownfield into a prosperous location, which will become an integral part of the city, has thus been completed, ”said Jonáš.

The place attracts Praguers to visit already – at the beginning of December, for example, it was enlivened by the winter ice rink River Rink, but not only space for skating, but also refreshments.

However, a significant change awaits the Prague Market Square in Holešovice, which has been under the administration of the municipal joint-stock company Výstaviště Praha since July 2022. Among other things, the reconstruction of the neo-renaissance slaughterhouse exchange, for which a building permit has already been issued, is undergoing reconstruction of the premises of hall 24, and the area of the entrance to the complex from Jateční street is also being modified.

The closer outlines of the overall reconstruction of public spaces will then be determined by the winning design, which will emerge from the ongoing international architectural competition.
