Express Vélo network in Toulouse: how cycling associations have changed the route
The consultation between the departmental council of Haute-Garonne, the associations of cyclists and the residents of the future Réseau Express Vélo continues, in the Toulouse conurbation.
Since the beginning of 2020, the Haute-Garonne departmental council has started a vast consultation for the construction of the Express Vélo Network.
This project of 14 main roads dedicated to cycling, which will cross the Toulouse metropolitan area, will complete the existing network in the Toulouse metropolis, by a cycle route with a high level of service, combining safety, continuity and comfort. It is a response to long-distance travel needs, particularly for home / work journeys but also for cycle tourism.
53 million euros invested, commissioned in 2025
The departmental council will invest 53 million euros, for work scheduled for 2024, and delivery in 2025.
The most advanced sections in terms of consultation are located to the west and south-east of the city. In the West, the consultation resulted in a change of itinerary.
The REV 4 will link Plaisance and Cugnaux, but also La Salvetat-Saint-Gilles, to Pins-Justaret, in the South
Thus, to connect the towns of Cugnaux and Plaisance (REV 4), associations of cyclists and residents have proposed to the departmental council, to go through a road which rests the two town centers.
Farewell, therefore, backing to the road project of the North Urban Boulevard, consumptioneuro agricultural land and which endangered the existence of a stud farm, in particular. The decision was satisfied by the associations, to have been heard.

Consultation will now continue on REV 6 (Portet-Roques-Muret), REV 8 (Saint-Lys-Fonsorbes-Plaisance) and 9 (Fonsorbes-La Salvetat) in the West, and in the South-East. For the REV 1 (Escalquens-Labège), several meetings have already taken place.
Nearly 700 people participated in the various meetings
In total, details Julien Klotz, departmental advisor in charge of the file, 120 people attended REV meetings on the western part (3 meetings), 380 people were present in Labège during seven meetings, and 180 for the Portet part. Roques-Muret (3 meetings). The year 2022 will see the continuation of the consultation, and the start of the administrative phase of the project.
