Just a few days after we announced the Amazon’s intended service, when its couriers would deliver food from supermarkets, Bolt, known mainly as an alternative taxi service, also plunged into the segment. In parts of Prague, the so-called Bolt Market was launched this week, which promises to import food from its own warehouses very quickly. The company even announces that it wants to manage within 15 minutes over time.

Bolt Market currently operates in Vršovice, Vinohrady, Žižkov and Strašnice. Here the company will see that the order will be processed “in a flash”. Delivery is then possible to the Old Town, Smíchov, Karlín and Chodov, but in these neighborhoods people will wait a little longer. Over time, the ambition to launch a service in the entire capital and other Czech municipalities, for example, from January, there should be an expansion to Moravia.

The main advantage of Bolt Market is that customers can order food 7 days a week, from 8 am to midnight, which exceeds the normal opening hours of supermarkets. On New Year’s Eve, the service is to be available until the first morning to cover the demand of celebrating people.

Everything basically works very similarly to the competition, the company bought its own food warehouses in Prague for delivery. In the Bolt Food application, one clicks on what one wants to bring and the partner courier picks it up in the warehouse. There are currently 1,500 products on offer, such as 150 types of soft drinks, 150 types of alcoholic beverages, 40 types of chocolate bars or 50 types of ice cream, which Bolt admitted for E15, although it is not as varied as in Rohlík and Košík, but it wants to be significantly faster than them. The company states that its goal is to manage import within 15 minutes of placing the order.

“Thanks to our rich experience in the field of food delivery, parameters of the Bolt Food application and a wide base of partner couriers, we can launch a service in Prague that has no period in our market – import of food, hygiene products and other goods within just four hours. Bolt Market will therefore bring great added value for existing and new Bolt Food users, but also new earning opportunities for our partner couriers. However, Prague is only the beginning, next year we plan a massive expansion both in the range offered and in the coverage of the service throughout the Czech Republic, ”explained Karel Složil, Bolt Market Country Manager for the Czech Republic.

Bolt Market is therefore a natural expansion of Bolt Food (currently operating in Prague, Brno, Ostrava, Olomouc, Pilsen and České Budějovice), which is used to deliver food from restaurants or partner stores. It is interesting that the Czechia is one of the first markets where Bolt launches a new service. The application is downloadable for iOS and Android and you can also select contactless food delivery.
