“We want to be one of the teams that play well in Portugal”
Statements after the game Tondela-Gil Vicente (0-3), of the 16th round of the 1st Portuguese Football League, played today at João Cardoso Stadium, in Tondela:
Ricardo Soares (Gil Vicente coach): “It’s a fair victory for Gil Vicente and I’m proud of my players.
We were aware that we were going to face a team with a lot of individual and collective quality.
In the first part he obtained an overwhelming possession of the ball, declaring running Tondela.
We spoke at half-time, corrected a couple of points and, in the second half, we were more aggressive offensively and ended up beating an excellent team, because there is more merit from Gil [Vicente], because they faced a team that plays well, is well-oriented and that made it difficult for us.
Proud indeed, because our DNA was creased once more and I’m extremely happy, because that doesn’t always happen and today it did.
Today we are able to say that Gil Vicente plays for the big team. I know we’re not always going to win, I know we’re going to have difficult times, but we’re never going to give up on providing people who pay a ticket, or are at home, with an excellent football show.
We want to be one of the teams that play well in Portugal, not forgetting the first objective that everyone is maintenance and that’s what we’re focused on. ”
Pako Ayestarán (Tondela coach): “Gil Vicente is one of the teams that play the best football in this League. It’s a very complete team.
The first part was very balanced and the game could fall to either side.
In the second half, they asserted themselves and were much stronger than us, better positioned and put us in a lot of difficulties in the last third.
We made it a little easier on the first two goals and the other one came when you’re already trying to score, but the first and second were an offer from us.
[Sobre os apupos dos adeptos ao treinador e aplausos aos jogadores no final do jogo] The supporters are always right and scolded and we must accept and work to change that opinion. ”
