Toulouse: at Café Pantoufle, a sandwich that fits you like a glove
Brice Poirée, owner of the Café Pantoufle establishment, reinvented the traditional sandwich. Located at 2 rue des Arts, this new concept aims to bring sweetness to the lunch break. “When I was in Paris, I regularly noticed that the bread in the ham and butter was too crisp. It fits in your palate and gives an unpleasant feeling. I wanted a soft, comfortable formula like our slippers” precise happily the creator. The restaurateur has therefore replaced the famous snack baguette with a sesame or plain brioche bread from the Toulouse bakery Cyprien. Its shape is reminiscent of the slipper of our thatched cottages. Each sandwich is made with fresh products from most of the neighboring traders. The menu changes twice by one depending on the season and the desires of the designer. Opened last November, Brice Poirée moved to rue des Arts. “I dreamed of this place. I absolutely wanted to settle here, because the rue des Arts has a history, an identity of its own. It is a district that I love passionately”. In appearance of a wink, the sandwich of a limited series bears the name “Rue des Arts”.
