29.12. – Increasing the line speed up to 140 km / h, complete reconstruction of the Prague – Radotín station and construction of another four-track section. These are just some of the benefits of the modernization of the Prague-Smíchov – Prague-Černošice line. It will be completed at the end of 2022. This was stated by the Minister of Transport Martin Kupka during the inspection day at the construction site.
“The modernization should significantly contribute to getting more people to and from Prague by rail, because after the completion of the entire section between Smíchov and Beroun, there should be up to 10 minutes in peak times, which will be a positive shift for passengers.” said Martin Kupka.
Work is currently underway on the bottom of the 1st track in the Barrandov – Prague-Radotín branch section and on the 3rd track in the Tunel – Prague-Radotín branch section. At the Prague-Velká Chuchle stop, the construction of retaining walls and an underpass is underway. At the Prague-Radotín station, work on the platform and passenger underpass is then being completed. The construction of the traction substation in Chuchle, the construction of the technological building in Malá Chuchle and the implementation of cable routes within the entire construction also continue.
The line is being modernized in the existing track, the project includes a complete reconstruction of the Prague-Radotín station, where a new access to the underpass from the existing crossing in Na Betonce Street has been established, which will be canceled as part of flood control measures. Classic sets will be able to travel at speeds of up to 130 km / h here, and sets with tilting boxes will be able to drive 10 km / h faster. This will create another four-track section in the metropolis, now there is a four-track section from the Vinohrady tunnels to Hostivař.
The construction will be followed by other investment projects such as the reconstruction of the Prague-Smíchov station (since 2022), the optimization of the Černošice – Berounka branch (May 2024) or the optimization of the Karlštejn – Beroun section (August 2022).
The optimization of the Prague Smíchov – Černošice line is located at III. railway corridor from Prague via Pilsen to Cheb. The modernized section provides long-distance and suburban transport.
