ICE: EC Red Bull Salzburg celebrates seventh victory in a row
The EC Red Bull Salzburg remains the measure of all things in the ICE Hockey League and celebrates the seventh victory in a row against Linz. The second team of the hour, the Graz99ers, also celebrate their seventh win in a row against the KAC. Dornbirn, Bozen, Vienna and Villach are also celebrating successes.
Salzburg have to work hard to beat the bottom of the table, Steinbach Black Wings Linz. The Bulls are in the lead 2-0 through Pallestrang (7th, PP) and Schneider (28th, PP), but the Linzers show their morale and come back through Gregorc (31st) and Romig (41st). After Salzburg quickly restored the two-goal lead by Schneider (43rd) and Loney (45th), Brian Lebler (47th, PP) shortened again in the power play. However, it is no longer enough to compensate. Salzburg wins 4: 3.
The game between the Graz99ers and the Klagenfurt AC is even closer. At the beginning the champions took the momentum of the historic derby victory over the VSV and took the lead 2-0 through goals from Stefan Geier (19th, PP) and Fabian Hochegger (27th). The in-form Grazers turn the game around with hits from Grafenthin (30th), Ograjensek (40th) and Gordon (54th). Just nine seconds after the opening goal, Matt Fraser puts the KAC at 3: 3 and forces overtime. In that, Joey Martin (64th) becomes the match winner for the Graz team.
VSV beat Ljubljana, Vienna win against Znojmo
The EC VSV showed the correct reaction to the derby defeat. The “Adler” win at home against Olimpija Ljubljana 4-2. Sturm (9th) shoots the Slovenes in the front, but Maxa (21st, SH), Karlsson (38th) and Lanzinger (56th, PP) bring the VSV to victory. Zajc (59th) shortened again, but Philipp Lindner decides the game ten seconds before the end for an empty goal.
The Vienna Capitals can look forward to a 4-2 home win against HC Znojmo. The man of the evening is Matthew Bradley with three goals (2nd, PP, 46th, PP, 60th, EN). Dodero (36th) also scores for the Viennese, who continue to make up ground in the table. Culkin (19th) and Prokes (52nd) score the goals for the Czechs.
