Eintracht Frankfurt: Glasner is Eintracht’s improvers – Bundesliga
The oldest professional in the league, Makoto Hasebe, learned tactics at 37 – how to defend forward.
Eintrachts trainer Oliver Glasner (47) likes to name the Japanese as a role model. And all of his professionals emulate him. So the Austrian made almost everyone at Frankfurt better in just six months.
► Djibril Sau (24), with 13 million euros the most expensive purchase in club history, turns out to be a midfield engine with an unimagined goal danger in the third year. With three hits, four assists and top scores as a ball conqueror, his market value rose to 17 million (source: transfermarkt).
► Filip Kostic (29) is the league’s flankomat. But that wasn’t enough for Glasner. Because a buyer for the cross was missing in the attack for a long time. Kostic should score more goals himself. With three hits so far, the wing star has almost as many as in the entire last season (4).
► New signing Kristijan Jakic (24) was brought on loan as a “warrior”. With a purchase option for 3.5 million in the summer. But its market value is already estimated at 7.5 million. Because under Glasner, the Croatian also improves on the ball. As a second six he forms the double heart of the Frankfurt game with Sau.
Football director Markus Krösche (41) has signed Glasner: “We knew what kind of football it stands for. And that he needs time. But he has a high level of mediation skills. And you have to give the team high credit for accepting what the coach says so persistently. “
► Example by Jesper Lindstrøm (21). He was fast and strong at dribbling for Danish champions Brondby. In the Bundesliga he crashed into the opposing defenders for a long time. But with four goals and assists each, he fought for a starting place in November. Due to his speed he is the first interceptor in Glasner’s counter-pressing after losing the ball in front. “There we have someone who could become someone like Rebic,” praised ex-coach Dragoslav Stepanovic (73).
► Not a player who did not learn under Glasner. Top defender Evan Ndicka (22) joins the attack much more often (2 goals / 2 assists). Midfield technician Daichi Kamada (25) holds his ground more often in duels and fights for the ball much more often.
Every player has his share in the sensational upswing from 15th to 6th place. Krösche: “The work that our coach has done in the weeks before is now bearing fruit.”
