In a telegram broadcast Tuesday, December 28, the Minister of the Interior, Gerald Darmanin, asked the prefects to take measures to dissuade gatherings on New Year’s Eve.
After the announcements of Jean Castex and Olivier Veran on Monday, December 27, Gérald Darmanin communicated a telegram to the prefects on Tuesday, according to AFP.
Sale and consumption of alcohol prohibited in the street
According to our colleagues, Gérald Darmanin summoned the prefectures to take dissuasive measures against gatherings and requiring the wearing of masks in the city center, especially during the evening of New Year’s Eve. Between Rhône and Saône, the prefecture of the department has already prohibited by prefectural decree, the consumption and sale of alcohol in the street from 5 p.m. on December 31, and until January 1 at noon.
“You will impose by decree the wearing of masks in town centers and in areas where spontaneous gatherings are likely to occur“, adds the Minister of the Interior in his telegram to the prefects consulted by AFP. On this side, no restriction on wearing a mask is imposed to date in the streets of Lyon. But that could change d ‘by December 31.
According to our colleagues, Gérald Darmanin calls the prefectures “to prohibit activities that do not (their) do not seem to meet the conditions allowing the respect of barrier gestures or social distancing “. As a reminder, the sale, possession and use on public roads of fireworks, rockets and firecrackers of categories F2, F3 and T1 will also be prohibited during New Year’s Eve in Lyon.
