Covid-19: Monaco launches an unprecedented screening campaign at the start of the school year for schools and employees
Objective: quickly break the chains of contamination of Covid-19 and “To start again on a good basis”.
For children and school staff
“We are launching a large-scale back-to-school testing campaign, on a voluntary basis, for the entire educational community and schoolchildren”, said Patrice Cellario, government adviser-Minister of the Interior.
Some 10,000 self-tests for children have been ordered by the government and will be distributed free of charge in schools, colleges and high schools. “These are rapid self-tests by nasal swab, non-invasive and easy to use. Concretely, it is a small sponge that you have to put just at the entrance of the nostrils. “
Only with the consent of the parents:
However, these self-tests will only be carried out with the consent of the parents. The operation will take place on the day of return to class. Each student will receive a self-test on their bench. He will be accompanied by his teacher, himself assisted by the school nurse and a reinforcement of riflemen and Red Cross personnel for the little ones.
An information letter was sent to the families to receive their consent.
For kindergartens:
In the event of refusal of screening, kindergarten students cannot be accommodated in class. A precautionary measure since the mask is not compulsory for these levels. “Parents will have to present a negative PCR or antigen test within 24 hours for their child to be admitted to class. ”Otherwise, he will be evicted“ until a negative test is presented ”.
For students from CP classes:
On the other hand, starting from CP classes, the return to school will not be subject to the completion of the re-entry screening. The mask is compulsory for over 5 years old.
In the event of a positive result of the self-test, the child will have to isolate himself and carry out a PCR test as soon as possible.
Teaching and non-teaching staff will also be offered free self-tests. The same system is being studied for nurseries.
For employees
This time, nearly 50,000 tests were ordered in order to offer each employee in the Principality a free self-test at the start of the school year. “They will be received this week or next week”, an esteemed Didier Gamerdinger, government advisor-Minister of Social Affairs and Health.
Since then “A teleservice has been set up to supply employers. It will work the same way it did when we set up a mask kit distribution device. “
