It was the boy himself who called 911 at about 10:50 a.m. and reported that he was dizzy and nauseous, completely confused, and recently had a headache. An ambulance then took him to the hospital, where a CO intoxication was used. Further inspection of the apartment building where he lived, in the Alphonse Demunterstraat, showed that the cause of the intoxication was in the basement, where the connection between the gas burner and the chimney was not in order. The combustion gases could thus accumulate in the cellar and then spread through a technical duct throughout the young man’s flat.
The measures to prevent a measure: “ensure the supply of fresh air and ventilation. Have an approved appliance installed by an authorized technician, have this also carry out the obligatory check and regular maintenance. The discharge of the combustion gases must also be carried out in accordance with to happen and be checked. Also pay attention to the CO warnings of the RMI.”
