Towards a change of goalkeeper this winter?
Yet 5th best defense in the championship at mid-season, the Monegasque leaders do not seem to be satisfied with the performance as goalkeeper. Changes could take place this winter.
Loaned by Bayern Munich for 2 seasons, Alexander Nübel disappoints his leaders a little this season. Systematically aligned by Niko Kovac, he, like his team, had a complicated start to the season. But Monaco and its goalkeeper seem to be doing much better in recent months. This return to form is however not enough for the Monegasque leaders, while the player’s agent has already floated the idea of a return to Germany : “ It all depends on Manuel Neuer. Of his performances, how long will he still show them? And of course it also depends on the club, how do they plan? Did they allow change one day? There has to be a sequel to Manuel Neuer. »
A replacement already found?
If a departure from Nübel this winter seems very unlikely, AS Monaco already have leads to replace the German goalkeeper. Barred by Pau Lopez at Olympique de Marseille, Steve Mandanda would have been offered to AS Monaco. While the French international is announced close to Saint-Etienne who is looking for a goalkeeper, the leaders of AS Monaco do not seem to have really refused the idea of installing the 36-year-old doorman on the rock. But if he comes to leave Marseille, Steve Mandanda will probably demand a starting place in his new club. In Monaco, it is therefore imperative that Nübel leaves or agrees to become goalkeeper number 2 to be able to welcome the world champion. It also remains to be seen whether OM want to sell or loan him, he who is under contract with the Olympian club until June 2024.
