Third trick could slow down the omicron shaft
Around 20 percent of new infections can already be traced back to the new virus variant Omikron. There is hope that many people from Salzburg have already been vaccinated three times.
By Monday there were 131 confirmed Omikron cases in Salzburg. The number of unreported cases is likely to be higher, especially since tests were not carried out as extensively around the holidays. State statistician Gernot Filipp estimates that currently around 20 percent of positive cases could be infected with the new virus variant. For comparison: In Vienna this value is already 50 percent.
