Soon we will also forget via Genova – Lavopediasti.it
On the night of December 6, 2007 I was in front of the Thyssen in Corso Regina, in Turin, stunned by the sound of the sirens and the tragedy that was taking place before my eyes. For 14 years I have followed the legal and human affairs of the 7 families of the innocent victims of the fire at the Steelworks. In the beginning, in front of those gates there were bouquets of flowers, tickets, banners, signs, letters.
We were all involved, supportive, friends of those guys.
Today in front of the Thyssen there is only weed, abandonment, rust, garbage. And of the 7 victims and their families we remember only on anniversaries.
I think of these things while observing the emotion that involved everyone in the face of what happened in via Genova, in Turin. As we are 14 years ago in the days of Christmas, our feelings are all marked by goodness. But what will happen in a few months? Will Filippo, Marco and Roberto end up on the back burner amid legal disputes, probative incidents, indictments and controversies? “We are all guilty” someone wrote on a note left in via Genova.
Today. But tomorrow?
The tragedy of Mottarone is talked about almost only more for the family quarrels around little Eitan, the only survivor. But who reserves a thought for the other 14 victims?
We have a short memory. We are moved at Christmas, but the next day we are already thinking about New Year’s celebrations. I have no illusions. This will also happen for the martyrs of via Genova and for the other victims at work in Piedmont.
One every eight days. Already ended up in oblivion.
