Difficult driving conditions
Before the weather change, on Monday evening, a lot of snow is expected in several places in the country. This can mean closed roads and column driving.
10 to 15 cm of snow is expected. The weather forecast applies from Setesdal in the south to Dovrefjell in the north.
Due to heavy snow and wind, snowdrifts are expected in areas that are more than 800 meters above sea level.
This can lead to reduced visibility and difficult driving conditions.
In some places there may be convoy driving and roads may be closed at short notice.
– The snow is distributed over quite a long time. We think it will be manageable, says meteorologist Håkon Mjelstad.
Along the coast of Sørlandet, a strong gale has been reported on Monday.
The wind can reach up to 15 meters per second. The danger warning applies from Lindesnes to Åna Sira.
It is warned against going out in a small boat.
Warmer coming of the week
In London, 15 plus degrees are reported in the coming days. In Copenhagen, it will be closer to warm temperatures at the end of the week.
– It is not so mild in southern Norway, but during this week you can get some plus degrees furthest along the coast of southern Norway and eventually into the Oslo Fjord, says the State Meteorologist.
Also in Western Norway it will rain in the coming days, New Year’s Eve can also be rainy.
Must probably go up in height to go skiing
With warmer weather, the skiing will also be a little worse.
– What is going to happen is that the snow line may go up a bit in the height, says the state meteorologist.
Up in the heights and in the Inland will be staying on the minus side. Here it can be good skiing conditions.
