Gourmet ecstasy at the Monaco Christmas Village
Do you prefer foie gras, ribs, socca or tartiflette? It doesn’t really matter because in Monaco’s Christmas Village, lovers of good food are spoiled for choice. Report by Nathalie Michet.
For the last issue of our series devoted to the Christmas markets of the Côte d’Azur, we are taking you to Port-Hercule to discover the Monaco Christmas Village which will kick off on Sunday January 2. Between the ephemeral ice rink at the Stade Nautique Rainier III (editor’s note: in place until February 27) and the rides, children do not know where to turn. Their gaze is also marked by our polar bears and the giant caribou who wave their heads. These XXL automata pay homage to Canada, the central theme of the 2021 edition of this Christmas Village.

The grown-ups let themselves be guided by the irresistible smells that emanate from the gourmet chalets. From the South-West to Alsace, via Savoy, the French regions and their culinary traditions are well represented. The Boucherie, the Refuge des Pyrénées or even the Bretzel Mignon… Each store has its own specialties and regulars. Some come to the same chalet every year to religiously savor their favorite dish or their favorite sandwich. For example, the famous “Vosgien” that a Franco-Russian father describes to us with relish.
You who enter here, give up all hope of a diet and let yourself be guided by Nathalie Michet.
