Four years after the end of the PV, the results of the post-parking package in Toulouse
Four years now that we have spent in Toulouse, as in other cities in France, to the post-parking package. FPS has replaced the well-known and dreaded PV on your windshield.
But apart from this name change, it is above all a price change that you have surely noticed: 30 euros instead of 17 euros. Significant revenue for the Toulouse metropolis while more and more neighborhoods are subject to paid parking.
What does that change for the metropolis?
First, this passage, enshrined in law, to the post-parking package allowed the city to set the amount of the fine itself. For now it should stay at 30 euros. A significant amount but not really dissuasive since in four years, the number of fines has remained stable, around 250,000 per year.
For the metropolis, it is therefore nearly 6 million euros that go into the cash registers each year, by tickets. After deducting operating costs, there is about $ 2.5 million left. An amount totally redistributed towards cycling policy, mainly by the development of old tracks and the creation of new ones.
But this package could bring much more in the near future! Toulouse neighborhoods spared until now will discover paid parking, without the metropolis specifying … And then also, because verbalization will be facilitated : the town hall will put into service four vehicles that will automatically read license plates normally in the first half of 2022.
The priority: ensuring better compliance with the legislation in force
The main objective of the metropolis remains to better respect the legislation since only 30% of the parking lots will be in the nails. “It has a deterrent effect but we would like it to be more important” Maxime Boyer, deputy mayor of Toulouse.
He is vice-president for cycling policy and new mobility in the Toulouse metropolis: “The objective is not either to ban the car but to accompany those who have not yet switched to cycling, to public transport when they cannot”.
