Chelsea’s Eriksson was named Women’s Defender of the Year in Sweden
Chelsea captain Magda Eriksson has been named Women’s Defender of the Year in Sweden 2021.
The 28-year-old Stockholm-born midfielder has been a leading figure for both club and country over the past 12 months and her achievements have not gone unnoticed.
On the international stage, Eriksson has made 14 appearances for Sweden during the current calendar year where she has scored two goals. The player was a key member of a Swedish team that won the silver medal at the Olympic Games in Japan this summer. Peter Gerhardsson’s team was just a penalty kick away from winning the gold medal.
For his club, Eriksson has captain Chelsea to a domestic quadruple with The Blues adding Barclays FA Women’s Super League title, FA Women’s Continental League Cup and Vitality Women’s FA Cup to the FA Women’s Community Shield which they lifted in August 2020. the hill also helped to guide Chelsea to a first ever UEFA Women’s Champions League final where The Blues were defeated 4-0 by FC Barcelona in Gothenburg.
Eriksson was crowned Swedish Women’s Defender of the Year at tonight’s Football Year 2021. Chelsea legend Hedvig Lindahl also won an award tonight with Atlético Madrid’s goalkeeper who was named Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year in Sweden 2021.
