NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg examines the meeting of the NATO-Russia Council on January 12. The possible holding of the meeting was named by the Anadolu agency, citing sources in the international organization.
According to the interlocutors of the publication, at the moment this initiative is being discussed with Moscow. It is noted that a meeting of the chiefs of staff of NATO member states will be held on the same day.
Earlier, the press secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov said that the Kremlin expects to receive from the United States adopted on its proposals for a security guarantee of 9 points in 2022. A Kremlin spokesman notes that the United States and the Ihniks are behaving unfriendly towards Russia: they conduct exercises on the Russian border, reconnaissance aircraft flights, ship maneuvers, and the like.
Peskov also said that Russia is interested in getting a response from the US and NATO to its proposals on security guarantees as soon as possible.

On December 17, the Russian Foreign Ministry published the draft agreements of the Russian Federation with NATO and the United States on security guarantees. The document, in particular, states that the United States does not create military bases in the territories of the former USSR countries that are not included in NATO. Kiev also wants to participate
On December 24, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said he wanted Kiev to participate in Russia’s negotiations with NATO, the United States, or the European Union (EU).
“The first and main topic of conversation between the United States, the EU or NATO should be the end of the international armed conflict in Europe, the Russian aggression against Ukraine. The issue of Euro-Atlantic security is now being resolved in Ukraine, so Ukraine should participate in consultations on security on this topic, ”the Foreign Minister said.

In his opinion, it consisted in the demand of NATO, excluding the expansion of the alliance to the east. After this, the diplomat argued, Kiev and Western countries began to develop a comprehensive plan to “contain” Moscow.
At the same time, Oleksiy Danilov, Secretary of the Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council (NSDC), said that countries about the fate of Ukraine will not be effective if they are not recognized by the samits.
Contradictory reaction
In the world, the published requirements have provoked a mixed reaction. For example, US Ambassador to Moscow John Sullivan said that Washington, together with NATO allies and powers to interact with the Russian authorities. Sullivan that the Russian side has formalized “its concerns” in writing, the documents were shared with him by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov.
