The Azores registered, in the last 24 hours, 130 new positive cases of SARS-CoV-2 and the death of a 79-year-old man on the island of São Miguel and 24 recoveries, reports today from the Regional Health Authority.

According to the associated daily statement, “in the last 24 hours there was a death at the Hospital do Divino Espírito Santo, in Ponta Delgada, of a 79-year-old man, of a 79-year-old man, from Covid-19”, bringing it to “50 the number of deaths in the archipelago since the beginning of the pandemic”.

According to the Azorean Health Authority, the man, “a resident of Lagoa, had been hospitalized since the 15th of last month” at the Ponta Delgada Hospital.

As for new cases, in the last 24 hours, 72 were registered in São Miguel, 36 in Terceira, 16 in Pico, two in Faial, two in Santa Maria, one in Flores and one in Graciosa, extracted from 2,197 tests carried out.

In São Miguel, 41 new positive cases were registered in the municipality of Ponta Delgada, 11 in the municipality of Ribeira Grande, nine in the municipality of Vila Franca do Campo, eight in the municipality of Povoação and three in the municipality of Lagoa.

Terceira registers 16 new positive cases in the municipality of Angra do Heroísmo and 20 in the municipality of Praia da Vitória. Pico registers eight new positive cases in the municipality of Madalena, seven in the municipality of Lajes and one in the municipality of São Roque.

In Faial there are two new cases in the municipality of Horta and in Santa Maria there are also two in the municipality of Vila do Porto. In Flores there is a new positive case in the municipality of Santa Cruz and in Graciosa there is also a new positive case corresponding to the municipality of Santa Cruz.

Today there are 10 inpatients, nine in the Divino Espírito Santo Hospital, in Ponta Delgada (two in the Intensive Care Unit), in São Miguel, and one in the Santo Espírito Hospital, in Angra do Heroísmo, on Terceira, also refers to Azorean Health Authority.

The archipelago currently has 698 active positive cases, 521 in São Miguel, 83 in Terceira, 34 in Santa Maria, 20 in Pico, 20 in Graciosa, 14 in Faial and six in Flores.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, the Azores account for 11,127 cases of Covid-19, a total of 10,186 recoveries and 50 deaths.
