Coronavirus in the US – US airlines have received more than 900 Christmas flights
According to FlightAware.com, a total of 937 Christmas flights have been canceled. About 1,500 flights were delayed.
The Christmas holidays are an active period for air travel, but the rapid spread of the Omicron coronavirus has led to a sharp increase in the number of those infected. This has forced flights to schedule flights, so pilots and pilots must be quarantined.
United Airlines has 230 flights and American Airlines 90 main flights.
“The nationwide outbreak of Omicron in recent weeks has had a direct impact on our flight crews and the people who run our operations,” said a United Meddi King spokesman.
According to her, current accounted for a small portion of United’s 4,000 daily flights during the holiday season.
“We are working hard to reassure as many people as possible and send them on vacation,” she said.
Delta Air Lines recorded 344 major flights on Saturday out of 3,000 scheduled.
“Delta expects more than 300 of its flights to be canceled on Sunday, December 26. Delta employees are working together around the clock to change the route and replace aircraft and crews to transport customers as quickly and safely as possible,” he said.
Globally, FlightAware showed that about 2,650 flights were canceled on Saturday and 6,233 others were postponed until 15:27 Eastern Standard Time (2027 Greenwich Mean Time).
