Toulouse: garbage cans are overflowing for Christmas
Part of the garbage collectors, on strike, no longer collecting waste. The trash cans are overflowing.
In Toulouse and its surroundings, garbage cans have become Christmas trees under which dozens of boxes are piled up … Garbage collectors, on strike, have only been collecting waste for a few days. According to Toulouse Métropole, between 30 and 50% of the agents go on strike. A figure that the intersyndicale refutes. “Their calculation is based on all the garbage collectors, without taking into account those who are on leave. In fact, 90% of the agents able to work are on strike. Those who leave the depots are seasonal workers or contract workers, ”supports Benoit Fontanilles (Autonomous union).
According to him, “the absence of pickets attests to the figure advanced by the unions”. The inter-union, which capitulated as to the end of the “finished party”, proposes a daily deduction of working time. Toulouse Métropole refuses this proposal. As the conflict bogs down, a new meeting is due to take place this Friday. The hope of an agreement remains choppy. The proof. Private companies are making a comeback in collection.
