Top 14: Antoine Dupont and Julien Marchand extend with Toulouse
It was expected, in the air for a long time, it is now official. The supporters of Stade Toulousain are happy supporters. The 21 Shields club of Brennus announced on Friday on its social networks the extension of the contracts of two of its players. But not just that it is the scrum half Antoine Dupont and hooker Julien Marchand. They respectively extended in the Pink City until 2027 and 2028. A hell of a Christmas present for fans of the Rouge et Noir.
Arrived in 2017 on the banks of the Garonne from Castres, Dupont (25 years old, 35 caps), trained in Auch, was initially linked until 2023 with his club. Its long-awaited extension is a declaration of intent for the reigning French and European champion, who sees the long-term commitment of the French rugby nugget who was crowned best world player of the year 2021. He is only the third blue in history to obtain this award after the current coach Fabien Galthié in 2002, and the third row – also passed by Toulouse – Thierry Dusautoir in 2011.
Captain of the Toulouse Stadium alternating with… Dupont, Julien Marchand (26 years old, 16 capes) was trained at the club, of which he is one of the symbols of a golden generation which intends to settle permanently at the top of French rugby and European.
“Our two captains are extending their way to the Toulouse Stadium and are following the 2027 trajectory of which they are the first elements”, communicated the club on its social networks, specifying that “watching its executives” was a priority axis.
The Rouge et Noir now hope to announce another news soon, another extension, that of Romain Ntamack, for the moment under contract until 2023.
Dauphin de Bordeaux in the Top 14, Toulouse will receive – if the health situation allows – the French Stadium on Sunday on behalf of the 13th day of the championship.
