Concern that Greece will become the worst example in Europe
SYRIZA’s concern that the country is heading towards a (still) health tragedy is intensified by the measures taken by the government to deal with the new pandemic wave and in anticipation of the consequences of the “O” mutation. He described the government’s policy as “unrealistic”, as it referred to later measures that are imperative. There is no fear in the official opposition that with this management Greece can be the worst example in Europe.
Difficult days are coming
This is exactly what the head of SYRIZA’s health department, Andreas Xanthos, pointed out in his recent position in Parliament. He stated that “at this time we have the worst indicators in Europe! We are first in Europe in the weekly trend of deaths on a daily basis per million population. We are first in the CFR index, deaths per case, first in the index of hospital admissions and ICUs per million population “. He characteristically noted that “I am afraid that at this time with the outbreak of the” Omicron “mutation we are the bad example in Europe”.
Professor Grigoris Gerotziafas also expressed similar concern in his post on social networks. One of the main advisers of Alexis Tsipras on the issues of the pandemic who participated in the special meeting convened on Wednesday by the president of SYRIZA. “Very difficult days are coming. We are entering a completely new phase of the pandemic “, Grigoris Gerotziafas pointed out, emphasizing that” the progressive world has a duty to organize Solidarity, to inform the citizens and to help the medical staff because the battle it will give in the coming months will be titanic ” .
The measures proposed by SYRIZA
The whole of Europe is in a frenzy in view of the mutation “O” and “Mr. Mitsotakis flies a kite and announces that he will take action from January 3. Until then, wear a mask and let everything that rains come down “, it is typically noted in the announcement issued by SYRIZA. So he commented on the government announcements that provide for measures to be taken in 2 installments, with the first one ending on January 3rd.
The official opposition blames the government for continuing to misunderstand that “we have a pandemic of vaccinators.” Stressing the need to immediately tighten health protocols and give the right messages to society about the crisis. It also calls for the immediate change of policy on the aspects concerning schools and public transport, while it has as a permanent result the need for immediate strengthening of the NSS.
Especially for the National Health System, SYRIZA favors as immediate measures the recruitment of 800 doctors who have applied to join as well as the activation of primary health care for pre-hospital care and control. Regarding the Intensive Care Units (ICU), he calls for the immediate ordering of private clinics, while for the vaccination he proposes the methodology followed in Portugal for door-to-door vaccination and to reopen the platform for the vaccination of children. Especially for schools, SYRIZA asks to abandon the protocol of closing classes based on 50% + 1 for students who are sick and to reduce their number per class.
