Children hospitalized in Portugal watch the premiere of the new Disney movie
The story of the Madrigals, a family that lives in a magical house hidden in the mountains of Colombia, is told in the new movie by Walt Disney Animation Studios. “Encanto”, which opens this Friday on the Disney + channel, also reaches children who are hospitalized.
On Christmas Eve, more than 900 children hospitalized in 59 hospitals in Portugal and mainland islands will be able to watch the new animated film from their rooms. In a statement, Disney Portugal indicates that the viewing will be through a digital platform.
“This action was made possible thanks to the collaboration of The Walt Disney Company and the Italfarmaco Group, which joined together to provide more than 900 children, in 59 hospitals in Portugal, a Christmas with more joy”
“Enchantment” is a film directed by Byron Howard and Jared Bush, co-directed by Charise Castro Smith and produced by Clark Spencer and Yvett MerinoCada. Madrigal is a family where every child “has a unique magical gift.” “Everyone, except Mirabel”, explains the producer, in a statement.
Maribel is, however, the heroine of this story. Despite not having magical powers, when the familiar space is threatened, she will be the only hope of rescue. This is a film “that transports us to a world of music, friendship, solidarity and love for the family”, explains Disney Portugal.
This action, promoted by the Italfarmaco Group and by The Walt Disney Company “reinforces the commitment of both parties to society, through the development of social responsibility actions that promote well-being”, the statement reads.
In addition to this action at Christmas, one collaborates throughout the year with several Disney hospitals in Portugal, promoting visits by Disney characters to hospitals, decorating pediatric areas and various volunteer activities.
