There was jubilation, Saturday, December 18, in the streets of downtown Toulouse after the victory of the Algerian football team in the final of the Arab Cup, against Tunisia. There was also the dispersal by the police with tear gas, fireworks in the working-class districts of Mirail, Reynerie, Bagatelle and burnt trash cans, as shown in videos shared on social networks.
It is for this last fact that a 17-year-old boy was arrested the same evening by the police, as the newspaper reports. La Dépêche du Midi, to be released and summoned before the children’s judge next March, because of his age.
But CCTV cameras have identified a second suspect, aged 18. He has just been sentenced by the criminal court, Thursday, December 23, to 6 months in prison. The prosecution had required 9 months of detention. He will therefore spend the holidays behind bars.
