A public conference on registration is organized by the Toulouse Métropole Development Council on Tuesday January 11 on the subject of “youth”, their political, societal, ecological opinions … It takes place in the presence of Steward Chau, an expert in opinion strategy and head of studies and societal policies from the Viavoice polling institute. The latter is also co-author, with Frédéric Dabi (Director General Opinion of the Ifop polling institute) of the book “The Fracture” published by Les Arènes editions.

A book that evokes “The Fracture” between the generations

In this work, the two leaders investigate the opinions, expectations, trends, values ​​and specificities of the generation aged 18 to 30, on various and varied subjects such as climate, secularism, freedom, equality etc. All this by evoking precisely the “divide” between the old and the new generation.

“This youth grew up with the Internet and social networks, experienced terrorism and the Covid-19 crisis. But it goes far beyond the labels, too often reductive, that we attach to it: offended generation, Covid generation and therefore sacrificed generation, Charlie or Greta generation… ”, explains the Toulouse Métropole Development Council. “She appears both disillusioned and resilient, tolerant of mores and religion, but also uncompromising on equality and the climate. On the eve of the presidential campaign, it is perhaps from her that the surprise will come, as Stewart Chau will set out to present it to us, ”concludes the Codev.
