The operator of the metropolitan multiplex COLOR DAB + yesterday before noon increased the power of its only transmitter Prague – Strahov to 1 kW, so far it was 600 Watts. This fact is, of course, reflected in the income experience.

The implementation of the planned step was confirmed by the editor of the Digital Radio portal, the coordinator of the COLOR DAB + project, Jakub Melín. According to him, increasing performance to a maximum of twice would eliminate income problems in peripheral areas. The radiation pattern and other technical parameters have not changed. “If someone has already received our network with outages, their signal should improve significantly,” said Melín.

COLOR DAB + is a new digital network in the Czech Republic and is behind its operator Radio Color and Radio Radio. The operator is trying to bring a varied program offer to the Prague airwaves, especially stations that cannot be tuned in in the VHF band. A rarity in this network are the German stations Schwarzwaldradio and Schlager Radio. At the beginning of next year, the multiplex will be extended to the Central Bohemian elevation of Lbosín – Špulka. The transmitter is currently operating at a reduced power of 300 Watts in test mode.
