Marcelo says that the answer in Portugal was “the correct one” and praises the booster phase of the vaccination
At the closing of the 8th Annual Meeting of the Council of the Portuguese Diaspora, which took place at Palácio da Cidadela, in Cascais, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa made a speech of about 40 minutes, in which he took stock of the situation in the world, Europe and in Portugal, referring, in the Portuguese case, also to the management of the covid-19 pandemic.
“As for the pandemic, I think that the answer that has been given over the years 2020 and 2021 is correct – as far as it is possible to keep up with fluctuations and unpredictability – which is to make a reading that, at the same time, anticipates, but don’t get into unjustified alarmism, this balance is difficult to make,” he said.
In terms of anticipation, the head of State highlighted the vaccination, and highlighted that “Portugal deviated, compared to several European countries, which deviated from several phases” and pointed to the third phase, currently in progress, as an example.
