ECDC – In “deep red” the whole of Greece
It is in the “deep red” for the second consecutive week of the whole of Greece according to the renewed map of the ECDC, which was published on Thursday.
In the ECDC map, which “photographs” the epidemiological situation in Europe, much of the Old Continent sinks to “red” in the composite index, which includes data on coronavirus cases, positivity and test rhythm.

Alarm for Omicron
In the meantime, the alarm has been sounded for the suspected cases of the Omicron mutation in Greece.
Almost 20 are the suspicious cases that are examined in the region of Attica to determine if it is the Omicron variant.
According to ERT, four days of analysis are needed to see if this is the new variant, while the answers can come within today.
If it is confirmed that it is Omicron, then it will be proven that the mutation is circulating in the community.
The examination is made by the National Network of Genomic Surveillance, while the relevant announcements will be made this afternoon by the general secretary of Primary Care, Mario Themistokleous and the president of EODY Theoklis Zaoutis.

Package of measures in two phases
The Minister of Health, Thanos Plevris, and the government representative, Giannis Oikonomou, announced today a new framework of measures that will be implemented in two phases.
The first takes effect from Friday, December 24 until January 2.
The second will take effect in the early hours of January 3, 2022, following a recommendation by the Scientific Committee, which will re-evaluate the data at its meeting on Monday, December 27.
The Minister of Health stressed that Omicron is also in our country, and in fact the cases have been increasing in the last two days, a fact that is being investigated due to the large number of cases observed in recent days due to the holidays.
Omicron has a very high transmissibility, that is the only sure thing, said the Minister of Health and stressed that regarding the morbidity and severity of the disease it can do, is something we will know in the next 10 to 15 days.
The measures from Friday, December 24
- The mask becomes mandatory in all interiors and interiors. The measure also applies to indoor areas such as gyms, animals and churches (at the entrance and wherever possible).
- In public transport and supermarkets, the use of a double mask or the high protection mask (KN-95) becomes mandatory
- All public entertainment festive events of Christmas and the holidays planned by the Municipalities are canceled.
- Strong recommendation for testing in travelers entering the country on the 2nd and 4th day after their presence, as it has been found that they show symptoms after their arrival and in this way the dispersal will be treated.
