All Salzburg World Cup competitions without spectators
The events in Bischofshofen, Flachau, Zauchensee and Bad Gastein must take place without an audience. “We are aware of our responsibility,” says ÖSV President Roswitha Stadlober.
It no longer comes as a surprise and yet when & the organizers of the World Cup competitions in Salzburg accept another setback. As the Austrian Ski Association (ÖSV) announced on Thursday, given the spread of the Coronavirus variant Omikron, all competitions will take place without an audience until at least mid-January.
In addition to the Four Hills Tournament in Innsbruck (January 4th) and the Snowboard World Cup on the Carinthian Simonhöhe (January 14th / 15th), this affects four Salzburg locations: Accordingly, the Three Kings Jump in Bischofshofen (January 6th), the Snowboard World Cup in Bad Gastein (January 11th) ./12 January) as well as the women’s ski world cup races in Flachau (11 January) and Zauchensee (15/16 January) in front of empty stands across the stage. That the women’s ski race in Lienz on 28./29. December, taking place without fans, became known about two weeks ago.
“We are aware of our responsibility and have therefore decided not to allow spectators. The organizers of the night slalom in Flachau had planned for 2214 spectators on Tuesday. 450 spectators would have been allowed at the speed races in Zauchensee, but the VIP guests have now also fallen away.
“We are planning to be able to hold all World Cup events as planned as sports and media events”, Stadlober. Kitzbühel and Schladming at the end of January can still hope for fans.
