Riffers: Two speedsters identified and
During a few weeks in June / July 2021, the canton police installed a semi-stationary speedometer in the municipality of Rifferswil in an area with a signposted maximum speed of 80 km / h. On June 25, 2021, a rented, 450 hp passenger car passed the measuring station at a net speed of 161 km / h. On July 16, 2021, another motorist triggered the radar at a net 164 km / h with a 560 hp car that was also rented. The investigations that have been initiated ultimately lead the investigating authorities to two 20-year-old men living in the cantons of Zurich and Aargau. Based on the facts at hand, the responsible public prosecutor’s office ordered the arrest of the two Swiss nationals as well as house searches at their places of residence. During the search of the apartment of the man who lived in the canton of Zurich, the police found firearms, stabbing and striking weapons as well as various ammunition.
After the public prosecutor’s questioning, both drivers were released from custody. The public prosecutor’s office is conducting criminal proceedings against the two men on suspicion of a serious gross violation of the traffic rules (razor offense). In connection with the seized weapons, the public prosecutor has initiated criminal proceedings against a third, 22-year-old Swiss citizen on suspicion of violations of the Weapons Act. The presumption of innocence applies to all parties involved up to a legally binding conclusion of the proceedings.
