North of Toulouse, individuals take gasoline at the pump and set fire to eight vehicles parked next to them
Eight vehicles were deliberately set on fire in the early hours of the morning, in the parking lot of the Super U de Montrabé, north of Toulouse, and in a private residence. These violent acts are afraid of the stir and some.
Amazement and anger. These are two of the main feelings, added to a real disgust, which were palpable on this Wednesday morning in Montrabé, north of Toulouse. While going shopping, Super U customers discovered, shocked, several charred car wrecks. Nearby, in a small neighborhood, two other cars were also burned. At least eight vehicles sustained extensive damage, many of which were unusable.
According to the first elements collected, these are not accidents but indeed arson. Several clues, including readings from surveillance camera images, quickly confirmed these facts. They will develop around 6:30 am. The arsonists, three hooded individuals dressed in black, would first have taken gasoline at the pump of the Super U. Then they set fire to a Citroën Berlingo parked in the parking lot of rental vehicles. The fire obviously spread to nearby vehicles very quickly. The dysfunctions are substantial. The first testimonies reported that employees of the store, present at that time, could not take into account the acts which took place outside.
But the arsonists did not stop there. They then went to set fire to two other vehicles parked across the street in a private residence. This second act of delinquency to the turmoil. A local resident, very close to the scene, was shocked. Witness to this eventful end of the night, she confided in La Dépêche: “the neighbors and gendarmes came to warn me quickly so that I could move my. They also asked me to caulk at home, due to the smoke from the fumes. It really is gratuitous violence. Our vehicles are our work tools. My neighbor can attest to this: he had his van completely destroyed ”.
A gendarmerie investigation was opened. In the morning, the criminal identification technicians are very quickly on the scene to carry out their investigations. Beyond the apocalyptic vision of this Wednesday morning for the customers who came to do their shopping at the Super U, it is a feeling of fear that has settled in this village accustomed to serenity. A feeling coupled with irritation, especially in this period designated for the party that some, unfortunately, prefer to tarnish by violent acts.
